The latest reading, 18.399 for 09 Oct 2026, was up 0.228 from the previous day. A year earlier it was 18.520.
Projection
No statistical model we tested has beaten a simple no-change assumption on this series over the past 49 weeks of backtests, so gov.house does not publish a projection line here. What the history does tell us is how far the series usually moves:
| Over the next | Usual move (4 in 5 cases) | Range from today's 18.399 |
|---|---|---|
| 4 weeks | ±0.485 | 17.914 to 18.884 |
| 8 weeks | ±0.688 | 17.711 to 19.087 |
| 13 weeks | ±0.878 | 17.521 to 19.277 |
A statistical projection, not a prediction of policy and not investment advice. How the projections work.
Rate-implied forward
Where the exchange rate would have to be for an investor to earn the same by holding dollars or the other currency, given today's interest rates: 3m forward 18.518; 6m forward 18.637; 12m forward 18.878. Shown as ◇ on the chart.
This is what the interest-rate gap prices in, not a prediction: in practice the spot rate has often moved the other way, and over a few months a simple no-change assumption is usually at least as accurate.

About this data
Daily noon buying rate in New York for the Mexican peso, in pesos per US dollar, from the Federal Reserve's H.10 release, via FRED.
What it measures
How many Mexican pesos one US dollar buys. The peso is one of the most heavily traded emerging-market currencies.
Why it matters
Mexico is the largest US trading partner, and the peso reacts quickly to tariff threats, USMCA news and the gap between US and Mexican interest rates. A weaker peso cushions Mexican exporters against tariffs but raises the cost of US goods in Mexico.
