Projection
No statistical model we tested has beaten a simple no-change assumption on this series over the past 49 weeks of backtests, so gov.house does not publish a projection line here. What the history does tell us is how far the series usually moves:
| Over the next | Usual move (4 in 5 cases) | Range from today's 1.1193 |
|---|---|---|
| 4 weeks | ±0.0209 | 1.0984 to 1.1402 |
| 8 weeks | ±0.0254 | 1.0939 to 1.1447 |
| 13 weeks | ±0.0292 | 1.0901 to 1.1485 |
A statistical projection, not a prediction of policy and not investment advice. How the projections work.
Rate-implied forward
Where the exchange rate would have to be for an investor to earn the same by holding dollars or the other currency, given today's interest rates: 3m forward 1.1236; 6m forward 1.1280; 12m forward 1.1368. Shown as ◇ on the chart.
This is what the interest-rate gap prices in, not a prediction: in practice the spot rate has often moved the other way, and over a few months a simple no-change assumption is usually at least as accurate.

About this data
Daily noon buying rate in New York for the euro, in US dollars per euro, from the Federal Reserve's H.10 release, via FRED.
What it measures
How many US dollars one euro buys, at the noon buying rate certified by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. A higher number means a weaker dollar.
Why it matters
The euro area is one of the largest US trading partners and the other side of the world's most traded currency pair. The rate moves with the gap between Fed and European Central Bank policy, and it shapes how tariffs and trade deals feed through to prices on both sides of the Atlantic.
